request for a test knitter

5 Aug

I am looking for a test knitter to knit up one of (or both of) my new mens sock pattern ’19-07-1926′.

The pattern is a subtle but classy men’s sock comprising of moss stitch with a slip stitch lattice, ribs and a simple cable.

I would prefer a UK knitter, only because of ease with posting/returning yarn and sock so sorry the rest of the world!!!

If anyone is interested please leave a message at the bottom of this post.

I am able to provide yarn (Beloved, by Sweet Clement) and PDF/word.doc pattern ASAP.

Thanks!!!!

little pea socks and mittens

19 Aug

Yesterday I met up with my sister for the first time since she told me that she is pregnant!

I don’t see her very often as she lives up north, but she treated her husband with a trip to London for his birthday so we got to spend an afternoon together. It was really good to see her and also gave me chance to give her the ‘little pea’ gifts that I have been putting together for her!!

I have been working on a cute baby hat, Twist Hat by Melissa Goodale, the ever so dainty baby boots Tiny Shoes by Ysolda Teague and a set of socks and scratch mitts all in the gorgeous bright green skein of Wollmeise Superwash I got from Knit Nation, hence the name ’little pea’ !!

I used some really cute yellow toadstool buttons for the boots that I have been saving for something special!!

I am also working on a lovely hooded baby blanket based on the pattern Hooded Baby Blanket by Lion Brand Yarn, photos to come a bit later!!!

sock withdrawl

1 Mar

I have been having some serious sock knitting withdrawal symptoms lately especially after Emmms and I spent so much time last year expressing the sock love.

To put an end to this I decided to knit my sister a pair of ‘Over the Garden Wall’ which were the socks Emmms and I co-designed for Alice and her Sockto club last year. I used the very talented Laura of Indie Knit’s yarn which is just lush and hopefully my sis will like them even though I was two days late posting them to her! Sorry, Jen!

The main reason I was late getting the Over the Garden Wall socks done was because I have also been working on my pattern for The Red Shoes which I originally wanted to release as part of the Loumms Year of Socks but there just weren’t enough months in the year!

Anyway, they are done now and are in the process of being test knit, but here are some sneak preview pics!

area 51 – lyos june 2009

Pattern: Area 51 by loutheperson and erqsome knits

Yarn: Solemate by Violet Green (75% superwash merino, 25% nylon, 437 yds/100 g)

Needles: 2.5 mm DPNs

Area 51, the ‘out of this world’ June pattern from LYOS has landed!

The inspiration for this sock came to us while we were sitting in Lou’s garden flipping through the pages of Barbra Walker’s Second Treasury discussing how once you get it in your head, every eyelet lace pattern looks like an alien head, we had evil aliens, fun aliens, drunk aliens (or maybe that was just us), marching aliens and praying aliens! We could not see a pattern without them in it!!

After a lot of laughter and numerous stories from both of us about watching odd alien documentaries as young teenagers we took a few of the alien heads put the together with some flying saucers and ‘Area 51′ were born!

There are no crazy alien autopsies or anal probes needed to knit this pattern — just a love for the space aliens of this universe!

Area 51 is the twelfth pattern to be released under the Loumms Year of Socks. It is available on Ravelry as a free download, but you can also download the pattern for Area 51 here.

Please note that while we’ve done our best to make sure there are no errors, we can’t guarantee there aren’t any. If you find something that looks amiss, get in touch! We’ll be posting updates if we find any, but we are always grateful for feedback of any sort.
