8 Mar

*****I am currently re-writing this pattern but it will be available soon!!*****

Pattern: Fisher Price, by loutheperson

Yarn: Cherry tree Hill Super Sock Solids (420 yds/4oz)

Needles: 2.5 mm DPNs

Well, life and pure knitting insanity. I have been stuck in a maze of cables and charts and have not known how to find my way out! Help! And I will I will have some better photos soon as the colour is a much brighter orange that is showning up at the moment.

Ever since this pattern idea popped into my head many many months ago I haver been very excited about getting it knit up and written out. The desire to have buttons on socks came from the cardigan buttony which is a homage to how great buttons really are ( well in my eyes that is the case!) I let myself down with mine however check emma’s out as her buttons actually look like chocolate minstrels! Wow I am getting way off subject!

Anyway I wanted to create a sock that could be the vehicle for some fantastic buttons but could also hold its own without them. It has came along way, this pattern, and I might do a second pattern using the ideas I didn’t put to use in this one.  I had to pull it all back in a one point as I was sitting knee deep in pieces of paper and needles and could no longer remember why I wanted to do them in the first place. I am  so glad I fought on as all it took was a bit of logical thinking and they came together. I lost a couple of needles in frustration (one on the bus on the way too work! Dont think it hit anyone but I failed to recover it!) so i think a trip to socktopus is in order!

Fisher Price

An A-Z of cables with more numbers than you can count on the fingers of your hands!

The cables begin hafway up the toe and run up the front panning out towards the sole before meandering along the inside of the leg and out to join the buttons. A second cable grows from the heel and guides its way up and around the ankle to then just become one long straight cable up the back.

You can download the pattern for ‘Fisher Price’ here or from Ravelry.
