Bend the Rules Sewing was all about ‘sewing instinctively’, it’s a simultaneously more organic approach to sewing but also Amy’s attempt to free sewers like me from the ‘But it’s so pretty, what if I cock it up?!’ mentality that holds us back and basically just dig in. In her new book, Amy tackles fabric itself, encouraging all to embrace old fabrics by putting them to new use, with applique, dying and embellishment, as well as getting into the logistics of designing fabric. I can’t wait to see it!
I’ve been a huge fan of Amy for ages. Her vision and creativity, her seemingly endless ability to whip other crafters into a frenzy at the mere mention of apron strings — she’s one of those women I aspire to become. After hearing her on Craft Sanity, one of my favourite crafty podcassts, I was so delighted to discover that in ‘real life’ she’s just as awesome as her online persona.
