heart strings

10 Mar

I was going to put this up tomorrow (Thursday), but as I seem to have deviated from my original plan today of being a very good student, I figure there’s no time like the present!

Pattern: Heart Strings, by erqsome knits (aka Emma Haigh)

Yarn: Handmaiden Casbah or Skein Queen Exquisite, shown in the latter

Needles: 2.25 mm DPNs, set of 4

These socks were originally inspired by my friend (the soon-to-be Dr) Kate, who is studying the science and medicine of pain response — not for the faint of heart, but unceasingly fascinated nonetheless. In spite of the somewhat gruesome subject behind the inspiration (the subject of study, not my friend Kate; she’s lovely), these socks bring with them a delicate grace.

Starting with a cable rib cuff, these socks follow long tendrils of twisted cables that cascade down the leg and foot, collecting baubles as they go. A rounded Welsh heel and a traditional flat toe finish them off.

‘Heart Strings’ is available for purchase at Made by Loumms Etsy and Made by Loumms Folksy, and on Ravelry.

Please note that while we’ve done our best to make sure there are no errors, we can’t guarantee there aren’t any. If you find something that looks amiss, get in touch! We’ll be posting updates if we find any, but we are always grateful for feedback of any sort.
