Lou and I are in the midst of a yarn storm and it is WONDERFUL. One of the bonuses of having an online shop is spending the proceeds!! We hooked up yesterday with the express purpose of designing two new patterns and sourcing yarn for them. Done and done! Having sketched out a handful of possibilities, we settled on the ones we really liked and set about scouring the Internet for lovely, lovely yarn. We’ve got a steady eye on the likes of Old Maiden Aunt, Yarns and Amy’s Rainbow.
Back on the Valentine’s weekend, I took part in an online charity auction to raise money for MSF/DWB. One of the things I auctioned off was a custom-designed sock pattern, inspired by the winner.
It’s a great opportunity to stretch my design muscles and, incidentally, a fantastic excuse to pick up two skeins of Nimu‘s cashmere/merino — they are just lush!
I’m really pleased with how this pattern is turning out so far. It’ll be up for sale hopefully by the end of March, with 50% of the proceeds heading to MSF.
Lou has been a bit of a Santa Claus this week and presented me with this amazing skein of handspun from Lindsay’s Crafts!
Apparently after seeing my spotlight on her stuff a couple of weeks ago, Lou couldn’t help herself. Hurrah for no will power combined with a generous spirit! It’s the most pristine, cheery goldenrod you’ve ever seen and I know just what I’m going to do with it: Scandinavian sunflowers intarsia’d into the button band of a librarian-chic cardi. Yum!
Oooh, and special announcement: I’ll be putting up a new pattern tomorrow, Heart Strings — a very long time coming, but I wanted to make sure it was juuuuuuust right. Stay tuned!
