knee high socks for little long legs

These little lacy knee high socks are perfect for the baby with longer legs.

When you have to cut the feet out of baby grows you know you have a long legged little one and these will continue to keep their feet snuggly warm with an added bit of style!!

 

You will need:

Yarn – Debbie Bliss Pure Cotton (less than 50g)
1 meter of ribbon
4 x 4mm DPN’s
Tapestry needle

Pattern

Cast on 24 sts, 12 sts on needle 1 and 6 sts each on needles 2 and 3, and join to work in the round.

 

 

Cuff
Round 1 & 2: (k1, p1) to end
Round 3: (k1, yo, k2tog, p1, yo, p2tog) to end
Rounds 4-6: (k1, p1) to end

Leg
Round 1: (yo, k1, k3tog, k1, yo, k1) to end
Round 2: (k1, p5) to end

Work rounds 1 and 2 for 11 cm or until desired length. (length from ankle to knee)

Heel
Row 1: Work round 1 over needle 1;
k to 1 st before end of needle 3, wrap stitch k wise ( yf, sl1, yb, sl st back ) turn;
You are now working back and forth over needles 2 and 3.
Row 2: P to 1 st before end, wrap stitch p wise ( yb, sl1, yf, sl st back ) turn
Row 3: k to st before previous wrapped stitch, wrap stitch k wise, turn;
Row 4: p to previous wrapped st, wrap st p wise, turn

Repeat rows 3 and 4 until you have 4 wrapped sts either end.

Row 5: k to previously wrapped st, k stitch together with the wrap, wrap next stitch k wise, turn
Row 6: p to previously wrapped st, p st together with the wrap, wrap next st p wise, turn
Row 7: k to double wrapped st, k st together with both wraps, wrap next st k wise, turn
Row 8: p to double wrapped stitch, p st tog with both wraps, wrap next st p wise, turn

Repeat rows 7 and 8 until all sts are worked.

k across the 6 sts on needle 2.

There is now a shift of needle position. n3 now becomes n1 (6 sts), n1 now n2 (12 pattern sts), and n2 now n3 (6 sts).

You are now at the centre of the heel.

N1: k 6 and pick up and k one stitch from the gap (before n2);
N2: work round 2 of established pattern;
N3: pick up and k one stitch from gap (before n3), k to end

N1: k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1;
N2: continue in established pattern;
N3: k1, ssk, k to end

Now back to 24 sts.

Foot
N1: k all sts;
N2: established pattern;
N3: k all sts

Work as above until 1 inch from desired length.

Toe
Round 1:
N1: k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1;
N2: k1, ssk, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1
N3: k1, ssk, k to end

Round 2: k all sts

Repeat 1 and 2 until 12 sts remain in total, three sts on n1 and n3 and six sts on n2.

k across needle 1.

Graft these 12 sts tog and weave in ends.

Thread a ribbon through the eyelets and tie in a bow!

k2tog-knit the next two stitches together
p2tog-purl the next two stitches together
k3tog-knit the next three stitches together
yo-wrap the yarn round the working needle once
yb-hold the yarn back
yf-hold the yarn forward
sl-slip stitch to right hand needle
n-needle

    So cute! Those are too gorgeous. We should do an adult-size pair!
