aethenoth – lyos november 2008

Pattern: Aethenoth, by erqsome knits

Yarn: Indigo Moon Superwash Merino (370 yds/100 g)

Needles: 2 mm DPNs, set of 4

Comments: ‘Aethenoth’ was inspired by Lady Godiva’s horse, also called Aethenoth. I always thought it rather unfair that she got all the glory while her poor steed got lost in history. Here, he canters up the centre of the leg, while the streets of Coventry flash past.

I used yummy Indigo Moon, got from Socktopus yonks ago. Though the needle size might seem pretty teensy, I found that IM blocks out quite a bit, rather like Fleece Artist or Handmaiden, and the smaller size was just the ticket to leave me with a snug fit.

‘Aethenoth’, along with ‘Singing in the Rain’ are the first two patterns released under the Loumms Year of Socks. It’s so exciting!! You can download the pattern here, or on Ravelry.
