figure 8 chainmail stitch

This is a picture tutorial for the figure 8 chainmail stitch used in the Astril Mittens pattern. It is such a strange stitch to write out in words for the pattern so I hope these pictures help with any problems!

Step 1

Insert needle as if to knit

Step 2

Bring yarn around right hand needle (again as if to knit)

Step 3

bring yarn up and over the front of the left hand needle

Step 3

Continue carrying yarn around the right hand needle

Step 4

Now contunue to knit the stitch as usual picking up the yarn as you would for a normal knit stitch

Step 5

Drop the two twisted wraps off the left hand needle to creat the looped cross
