*****The new edition of Bo Peep is avaliable for download, if you are working off a copy downloaded before 20/03/13 please get Bo Peep-revised edition three-20-03-13

Pattern: Bo Peep fingerless gloves, by loutheperson and erqsome knits

Yarn: Natural Dye Studio Sparkle (cotton/tencel; 400 yds/100 g)

Needles: 2.75 mm DPNs, ser of four, for small-medium; 3 mm DPNS, set of four, medium-large

As a spring treat and a nice little (if slightly late in the day; we’re claiming our stake in North American time zones, so it still counts, right?) April Fools’ joke we have made an exception to the Year of Socks and  put together this lacy, fingerless glove to get you through the April showers.  They were meant to go up this morning but due to a surprise wholesale order for our Garden Year of Seeds Grow Your Own Soup kits, we have both been working flat out sewing up 110 seed bags! In a week! Eep!

Bo Peep are delicate and feminine and as part of our un-planned design tradition they come topped with a cute little button. We both got so excited when we came across the lace pattern in Barbara Walker’s First Treasury and couldn’t stop ourselves dreaming of  Little Bo Peep counting the sheep running up the palm and skipping through the raindrop eyelets of the fingers and thumb!

The cotton/tencel blend gives them a dewy, early morning sunshiny sheen — perfect for the daily plant watering routine;  however don’t try gardening in them! These lacy mitts are for the finer things in life.

Bo Peep is the ninth pattern to be released under the Loumms Year of Socks. It is avaliable on Ravelry as a free download, but for now you can download bo-peep-revised-edition-three-20-03-131.pdf

Please note that while we’ve done our best to make sure there are no errors, we can’t guarentee there aren’t any. If you find something that looks amiss, get in touch! We’ll be posting updates if we find any, but we are always grateful for feedback of any sort.

*****All errata should be updated in bo-peep-revised-edition-three-20-03-131.pdf of the Bo Peep pattern available above however if you find anything we have missed, please don’t hesitate to contact us*****

OH WOW! You’ve really done it this time! : )
These are perfect for my daughter – I am thinking blackberry fyberspates sparkle (with silver through it) for that gothy touch!

it’s just for fashioning and looks beautiful, i like these gloves….good job!

    These gloves are absolutely beautiful!
I am having a problem on row 10 in the Keyhole section though.
It says to cast on 4, but it doesn’t say what to do with the ones you just cast on. I cast on four, then just followed from the yarn over, p5, yo, etc… and I always end up with 12 stitches at the end instead of 11.
Any suggestions on what to do?

    Hi Nellie,

You are absolutely right: there should be 12 sts st the end not 11. The full errata is up on Ravelry, and we’ve posted it above, too!

    Hope it helps! xx

I don’t see ‘K last 3 sts’ in keyhole row 4. Are you referring to Strap row 4?

  6. loutheperson 27 November 2009 at 11:10 am #

    Hi Haley,
Could you give us a bit more info on what your problem is? If it is the errata you are referring to then I think it is keyhole row 8 not row 4. Hope this helps!

If the heyhole is on the top of the hand, wouldn’t the thumb setup for the left hand be at the end of needle 2, and the right hand at the end of needle 1?

  8. loumms 2 January 2010 at 1:06 pm #

Hi Mary, I think you are talking about the thumb being on the wrong side of the hand yeah? In the errata there is a little note about this which should help with your question, you can find the errata for bo peep on the pattern page (https://loumms.wordpress.com/2009/04/02/bo-peep-lyos-april-2009) on loumms and also on the pattern page on ravelry too. Sorry for the confusion!

Beautiful so far but I’m completely flummoxed by row 10 – after the fourth repeat there are only enough stitches for one more repeat of yo p5 yo p3togtbl – no p4 at the end. I’ve counted and recounted – how many stitches should there be by this row? I make it 40. Please help.

  10. loumms 19 January 2010 at 3:30 pm #

    Hi Pearl,

You should have 44sts. Are you casting on the 4 sts at the beginning of the row?

At the beginning of the keyhole section you should have 44 sts, you then cast off 8 taking it to 36, two sts are made on both rows 7 and 9 adding 4 sts, taking it to 40 then at the beginning of row 10 there are 4 sts cast on so you should now have 44 sts.

The only thing I can think of is that you need to work over the 4 cast on sts.

Have you looked at the errata notes above? I am going to knit another pair of these up during the next couple of days so I will focus on that row and see what happens. Apologies for the hassle, me and Emmms need to get together and go through alll of our patterns in detail! Glad you are liking them though!! Let me know how it goes.

Hey! I haven’t been knitting for long but I am really good at following directions. I was wondering if there was any way that this pattern could be written up so that an advanced beginner will be able to follow it. I have a 15 year old daughter that loves this pattern and has asked me to make it for her but I am having trouble following the directions. I would greatly appreciate any and all help that you can give me.
    Thank you!

I am perplexed by the end of the keyhole/beginning of the hand section; if I am to join in the round at this point, I will be knitting in the wrong direction…

  15. loumms 17 November 2011 at 2:11 pm #

    Hi!
So sorry for the mix up!
There is an error in the pattern.

If you cast on 4 sts, work round 1, then join in the round you will be joining in the correct place.

    Our apologies!

Thanks for pointing out the error I’ll get it sorted ASAP!

To confirm please join at the end of round 1 and the continue the remaining glove instructions in the round.

    Xx

I’ve been having a little trouble with this pattern…it seems to me like the number of stitches is off…did you chart the pattern? I’d like to look it at it and see what I’m doing wrong. These are such wonderful gloves!

  17. loumms 28 November 2011 at 11:29 am #

    Hi
We actually included a pic of the chart in with the pattern.
It is beside the written text.
Are you working from a print out? If so maybe your printer has missed it off.

Let me know if I can help further.

Hi, thanks for posting the errata, it’s sorted out some problems for me. There’s still one thing I can’t figure out though. in keyhole row 10, after I’ve cast on the 4 stitches I’m not sure how to begin the row with a yarn over.

  19. Cindy 9 September 2012 at 8:14 am #

Hey! I have tried this pattern in many different ways and added the revisions and everything but for some reason I just cant seem to get the count right and it ends up looking back. I would appreciate in help that you can give me.
    Thanks,
